There’s a new wood-fired pizza spot in Kangaroo Point that many residents may not have stumbled across yet — and if you haven’t, it’s well worth the detour. Baretto, a compact Italian eatery tucked beneath an apartment building on Shafston Avenue, quietly opened in March 2026 and has already been drawing a loyal crowd of locals.
The venue is the latest addition from the hospitality group behind Azteca, Soko Rooftop, and Lina Rooftop, expanding their portfolio with this Italian-inspired spot at the base of the Lume building in Kangaroo Point. The setting — sheltered outdoor seating surrounded by greenery, with umbrellas for shade — gives it a relaxed, almost European feel that suits a slow afternoon or an early evening catch-up.

The menu centres on handcrafted, wood-fired pizzas, and the kitchen takes the craft seriously. Alongside classics like margherita and pepperoni, the menu ventures into more adventurous territory with options such as lamb and goat’s cheese, chicken and camembert, and prosciutto di parma. For vegetarians, the truffle and mushroom variety — made with porcini mushrooms, truffle, and parmesan on a white mozzarella base — is a standout.

Beyond pizza, the offering extends to fresh pasta dishes including spinach and ricotta cannelloni and Angus beef lasagna, plus five varieties of arancini. Flavours include napoletana, truffle and mushroom, and jalapeño and mozzarella — and for those who can’t decide, a tasting platter is available.

Dessert is handled with equal care. The sweets menu features a Biscoff cheesecake and a triple pistachio tiramisu, both served in takeaway cans — making them just as easy to enjoy at home as at the venue.
A house wine list rounds out the drinks offering, keeping things simple and unpretentious. The space is also dog-friendly, which should be welcome news for anyone who likes to combine an afternoon walk along the Kangaroo Point cliffs with a meal.
Baretto is open Monday to Thursday from 4:30pm to 9pm, and Friday to Sunday from 4:30pm to 9:30pm. The venue is located at 1/25 Shafston Avenue, Kangaroo Point. Street parking nearby is limited, so walking or cycling is a good option for those who live locally. Orders can also be placed online for pickup or delivery.
